Moon dragon for under 1s is a lovely show that was on at the Pleasance Courtyard. It’s the first production by Dragon Song Productions which is a children’s theatre company specialising in preschool productions. Rachel Huggins, who is the brains behind the show is so full of energy and engages the audience from the very start right until the last minute.
The show starts when you walk into the tent to the sounds of a harp playing. You’re handed a bag of surprises as you walk in and told not to peek! The babies assist in the telling of this interactive story of Bertie the Moon dragon and his attempt to set the night right after missing his cue to raise the moon. Throughout the show you have to find things in the bag which take your baby through a lovely sensory experience from tambourines and maracas to light up balls and scarves along with a lot of lovely original songs!
This is an absolutely beautiful show, Matilda and Sebby both loved every minute of it and we would thoroughly recommend it for any babies. For older tots, there's the under 5 show which is a little faster pace with the same premise. The under 1s performance is recommended for babies who are not yet on the move and the under 5s show is more suited to the bigger tots who are on the move right up to 5 years of age. This show is very popular and does sell out relatively quickly. Almost every performance at the Fringe was sold out!
After the show, you get to meet all the puppets and the performers. Sebby loved getting his picture taken with them all and Matilda was mesmerised by the puppets too!
The lady who runs this performance, Rachel Huggins also runs Monkey music in Edinburgh, she has just announced Christmas performances of Moon Dragon. The link for these shows are below.
